There are a number of simple ways to help ensure you get a good night`s sleep. One of the best ways is to have a calming routine that you follow every night, at about the same time, like doing stretches or gentle yoga or having a hot bath. Over time, your brain and body start to get the message that these activities mean it`s time to relax and go to sleep. Avoid anything you find too stimulating or exciting, like violent movies. It helps to go to bed and wake up at set times. Exercise during the day but not in the evening. Snack lightly on sleep-inducing foods before bed, avoid caffeine from the afternoon on, and don`t use alcohol as a sleep aid.
