Enlarged Corpus Callosum

The corpus callosum is a wide, flat bundle of axons beneath the brain cortex that connects the right and left cerebral hemispheres. It is the largest white matter structure in the brain, consisting of 200-250 million axonal projections. The corpus callosum may become enlarged in response to such conditions as depression.
