Abnormal Insulin Function, Type II Diabetes
In Type II diabetes, the most common type, the body produces too little insulin or can't use what it does produce. This image shows an insulin receptor (left) and glucose pump (right) in the outer wall of a fat cell of a person with Type II diabetes. Diabetes is the number-one cause of chronic kidney disease. It is responsible for 60% of the cases of chronic kidney disease that eventually result in kidney failure.
