Chromium is an essential trace mineral and antioxidant that helps the body use insulin more efficiently. It may also play a role in lowering blood lipid levels, promoting weight loss, and improving body composition.
Brewer`s yeast (especially when grown in chromium-rich soil) is an excellent source of chromium, along with organ meats, mushrooms, oatmeal, prunes, nuts, asparagus, and whole grains and cereals. Vegetables, fruits, and most refined and processed foods are not good sources, with the exception of processed meats.
