Deepak Chopra, MD - Ask Deepak: How Do I Improve My Body Image?
I agree with what Dr. Chopra says.
Every beiing has amazing beauty within it. That amazing beauty is Love. When you get in touch with Love in your heart, not only you feel beautiful, but also you see more beauty in others.
I agree also. Finding my signifiance was given through Spirit in meditation which I experienced this way.I heard words inside asking this question. do you see those trees in the distance?I chuckled, and said, yes, and they are beautiful.Do you see the leaves on the trees? I really chuckled then, and stated, no I cannot see the leaves for they were about a mile away, Just about that time the most beautiful tree appeared before me. It was so full of leaves I could not hardly see the sky through it. I observed that the leaves belonged to the tree, but inside the leaves, the veins were different, and they were all doing different and unpredictable things as the wind moved them. Each leaf was very unique and different, as I observed, a voice ask, if the rocks and these leaves praise me, how do you prasie me?I thought for a moment, and then i said, probably by just being me. Thats right, the voice said, by you, being just you. “Wow”…..The next thing that happen put me into a state of shock—–, for now I was viewing the full and beautiful tree with only a fewleaves. Inside I was stunned, and at the same time I felt sick inside—-for the beautiful tree was nowugly. THe “Spirit” allowed me to not only see my importance and signifiance to fill my space, but I was given the beauty of knowing how important everyone else is also. For the tree to be beautiful—-it must be filled full with leaves of you and me……………….so fill your space dear sister, enjoy being you and forget about body image. We are a Spirit living in a body, with a soul. I hope my experience with Spirit has brought understanding for you, also.“THe tree is glorious to see, when it is full with leaves of you and me”. eljsMandala–TriGodFILL YOUR PLACELove,Lorri
first of all you are beautiful…. second of all watch, see or read The Vagina Monologues.
I have battled with my weight for quite some time, in fact, iv been on the plump side since my childhood days. but as a 29 year old woman, i have come to love who I am and i am proud of my appearance. This realization however came from many life experiences which in essence shifted my focus from an obsession about my external appearance to a challenge to survive and surpass the many obstacles which came before me on my journey through life. These obstacles were my greatest teachers, not the education i received at university or through textbooks. Having overcome these challenges, i felt a sense of pride and respect for myself. My inner beauty externalised and it felt so powerful, true and pure. i am proud of myself, proud of the young woman i have become and proud to be one of God’s amazing creations. My journey of transformation took many years, but I would relive those years to reach the same results. We all need to introspect. We all need to set aside some time in our busy lives to converse with ourselves. And in having this conversation with yourself you will be amazed as to how much we dont really know about our selves. Yet, when others judge us or catergorize us, we are so quick to take these words to heart and act on these feelings. If we don’t truely know ourselves, how is it that we so easly believe that others do! We need to shift our minds from this illusion to a conscious yet subconscious reality. Sounds deep and difficult, yet it’s the easiest thing we can do for ourselves. Just do it!
I am a very hairy man…..not considered “sexy” and I used to be really self conscious about it and let it bother me……NO MORE. I did like Deepak said. I started doing Bikram Hot Yoga and began to really get in touch with my body…WOW! What an amazing tool my body is….It does soooo many things at one time and I don’t even have to think about it. I apprecaite it immensely.
Funny thing is…so far…when I show people I am alright with my hairy chest, they forget about what media taught them..and if they don’t, then why would I want to be with someone at that level of evolution.
The key is loving yourself and self acceptance. Check out Don Miguel Ruiz’s book, “Mastery of Love”. Great read on self acceptance and self love. I run around in spandex and shirtless with hair galore at the yoga studio now and a hot blonde today a hot blonde was thoroughly enjoying my presence after class. ;o)
I’m bringing hairy back baby!
